How In-Home Dog Training Works — BetterDog Ottawa & Gatineau

BetterDog's in-home dog training comes to you. Jon Wells and Nancy Corriveau work with your dog in your home, on your real walks, at your actual front door — not in a training studio where none of the real problems exist.

The Life Changer Session is 2 to 3 hours in your home. One hour covers how dogs think and communicate. Two hours is
hands-on training — we do it, then you do it, until every person in the household is confident. You leave with a
personalized Study Guide, a recorded session, and techniques that work the same day. Serving Ottawa, Kanata, Nepean,
Barrhaven, Orleans, Gatineau, Hull, Aylmer, and Le Plateau.

What Ottawa Dog Owners Say About BetterDog

"Jon Wells came to our home and spent hours getting to know our dog and teaching us how dogs think and act. Instead of just correcting behaviour, he helped us understand why our dog reacts the way she does. In just over a week we started seeing positive changes and a calmer atmosphere in our home." — Brenda C., Ottawa "Amazing session with Nancy. She helped us understand what was actually happening and gave us practical tools we could start using immediately. We left feeling much more confident as dog owners." — Alexis F., Ottawa "Our dog Koda had bitten two people and we were told by two other trainers there was nothing they could do. Jon spent 2.5 hours with us and by the end Koda was walking calmly on a loose leash past strangers. We finally have our dog back." — Sarah R., Ottawa "We took our reactive Aussie to BetterDog and by the end of one session he was a model citizen. We were absolutely speechless at the results." — J. & P.S., Ottawa

Why BetterDog's In-Home Training Method Works

Most dog training happens in group classes or training facilities — places where your dog's real problems don't exist. BetterDog works where the behaviour actually lives: your home, your neighbourhood, your front door, your walks. What happens in a BetterDog Life Changer Session: The Invisible Start — we establish calm authority from the second we arrive. Your dog reads this immediately. The Human Bridge — the first hour is for you. We explain how dogs think and make decisions so the training actually makes sense and sticks. The Physical Shift — we demonstrate every technique, then you execute it. We don't move on until every person in the household is confident. Reactivity to Thinking — we take a reactive, stressed dog and create a thinking dog. Most dogs are mentally exhausted by the end. That's how you know it worked. Precision Audio Capture — the entire session is recorded. Your personalized Study Guide arrives within days. You never need to take a single note. Jon Wells and Nancy Corriveau are BetterDog's lead trainers and co-founders. Bilingual in English and French. CAPDT member. 800+ dogs trained across Ottawa and Gatineau.

Frequently Asked Questions — In-Home Dog Training Ottawa

How does in-home dog training work? We come to your home for a 2 to 3 hour Life Changer Session. The first hour covers how dogs think and communicate. The next two hours are hands-on training with your dog — we demonstrate, then you execute. You leave with a personalized Study Guide and techniques that work the same day. How much does in-home dog training in Ottawa cost? The Life Changer Session is $500 tax-in — one flat fee. No packages. Includes 2 to 3 hours in your home, a personalized Study Guide, recorded session, and member app access. Ongoing Unlimited Support is $1,200/year or $125/month. Reactive and aggressive dogs, leash pulling, jumping, barking, door manners, separation anxiety, resource guarding, puppy foundations, multi-dog households, and dogs that simply won't listen. If you're not sure, call (613) 316-6473. What happens after the first session? You receive your personalized Study Guide within days. You can then enroll in the Unlimited Training Pass for ongoing in-home visits, pack walk access, and direct access to Jon and Nancy for a full year. What areas do you serve? Ottawa, Kanata, Nepean, Barrhaven, Orleans, Glebe, Westboro, Rockland, Alta Vista, Gatineau, Hull, Aylmer, Le Plateau, Masson-Angers, Cantley, and Lochaber-Partie-Ouest.
