Our Dogs Don't Care About Borders. But We Do.

Real work. Local people. Dogs first. Here’s what’s happening at BetterDog.ca.

Ottawa–Gatineau · Announcement · October 11, 2026

Canadian first when practical. Dogs first, always.

We’re Jon and Nancy, the humans behind BetterDog.ca. We help people train their dogs where life happens: at home, at the front door and on the walk that keeps going sideways.

Buying Canadian goes beyond the shopping bag

For a small business, the choices include who hosts the website, who builds the AI tools and who handles telecommunications. We want more of that work going to Canadian businesses. Not because a maple leaf fixes everything. Because the people we buy from matter.

CanSpace, Cohere and VoIP.ms are part of that Canadian technology story. Everything Raw Doggie Café in Manotick brings the story back to local food and supplies. Janet Langdon brings the photography. These are different businesses doing different jobs. That’s the point.

The dog still gets the final vote

We choose Canadian suppliers when practical. We also recommend useful products from elsewhere when they’re right for the dog. A border isn’t a training method. We won’t pretend it is.

Small business. Serious tools.

We record our session so you can focus on learning. Your questions, our answers and the details you share help us build your guide. We turn it into a custom guide for your dog, with the steps you practised together. It’s ready the same day in the BetterDog App.

AI helps turn what we actually taught into something families can use after we leave. Jon and Nancy remain responsible for the training. The technology supports the work; it doesn’t get to invent advice in our names.

Canadian providers are one part of responsible operations. We don’t claim that every service, every data flow or every tool stays in Canada. Where information goes depends on the service and its configuration.

Elbows up. Paws down. Back to training dogs.
