These focused sessions are perfect for tackling leash manners, reactivity, or general walking woes. Whether your pup pulls, lunges, or freezes at the sight of a squirrel, we’ll guide you to become the confident leader your dog needs. Led by Jon and Nancy, our expert trainers, these sessions provide practical, hands-on coaching to ensure progress, no matter your starting point. We welcome all dogs—yes, even muzzled ones! No judgment, just growth. Important Note: While we’d love to train rain or shine, safety comes first! Sessions may be rescheduled for extreme weather conditions, including: Thunderstorms High winds Extreme cold or heat We’ll keep you updated with plenty of notice, and rest assured, your progress won’t miss a beat.
Cancellation Policy
Liability During all in-home and walking training sessions, you (the client) remain solely responsible for your dog’s supervision, handling, behaviour, and physical safety. By booking and participating, you represent and warrant that your dog is in suitable health to participate in training and is vaccinated in accordance with your veterinarian’s recommendations. You acknowledge that working with animals involves inherent risk and that incidents may occur despite reasonable care. To the fullest extent permitted by law, BetterDog, its owners, trainers, contractors, and agents are not liable for any injury, loss, or damage, including (without limitation) personal injury, dog-to-dog conflict, death, property damage, or consequential losses, arising from or related to training services provided in or around your home, yard, building, or neighbourhood, except to the extent caused by BetterDog’s gross negligence or wilful misconduct where such limitation is not permitted by law. Required Gear For walking sessions, a 6-foot non-retractable leash is required. Your dog must wear a secure collar or harness that cannot slip off. Retractable leashes are not permitted for any BetterDog services. For in-home sessions, please have your regular training gear available, including leash, collar or harness, and any items your trainer has previously recommended. Weather Policy Walking sessions proceed in normal weather conditions and may be cancelled or modified by BetterDog when weather or environmental conditions create a safety risk, including thunder or lightning, extreme heat or cold, unsafe ice, or travel advisories. If BetterDog cancels due to weather or safety concerns, your session credit will be moved forward to a future date. If you choose to postpone due to weather concerns, your session credit will also be moved forward. No additional charges apply. Booking and Cancellations Sessions must be booked or cancelled at least 48 hours in advance. Cancellations made within 48 hours retain the full session credit for a future date. BetterDog does not charge late-cancellation fees. Purpose and Scope of Services BetterDog provides coaching and training support focused on calm leadership, emotional regulation, and the BetterDog consent-based training system. Sessions may include leash skills, household boundaries, Emotional Marking, Stress Gauge assessment, and behaviour-specific guidance discussed with your trainer.
